Emilie In The News:

Emilie Surtees has created a unique niche for herself within the biggest entertainment capital of the world that is New York City.  With such a diverse plethora of talent in the big apple, it can be an overwhelming task to find a way to get music lovers to find their way to the stages on which one is performing.
 

Well, Emilie Surtees has done just that, by performing music for Everyone! 
 

She chooses to do songs from a wide variety of music genres, so that she would be able to connect to an array of music lovers looking for live, fun, energetic, & satisfying musical entertainment.

In 2023, Emilie Surtees received Grants from The Louis Armstrong Foundation & from The Arts Alive Grant funded by Arts/Westchester to perform her Musical Tributes To Iconic Jazz Artist such as Billie Holiday, Etta James, & Nina Simone.

Emilie Surtees is also the recipient of the 2021 City Artists Corps Grant distributed by The New York Foundation of The Arts [NYFA].  It is a grant that supports professional artists, with the expenses associated with producing their shows and live performances, for the community to attend and enjoy.

 

Emilie Surtees has performed her Musical Tribute Shows to iconic artists such as Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Sade, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, and so many more.

 

Emilie's career has allowed her to perform on the well known Main Stages of BB King's Blues Club, The Highline Ballroom, & The Elebash Recital Hall, as well as on the stages of Flushing Town Hall, The Long Beach Public Library, The Queens Library, Club Bonafide, & too many more to mention.

 

An article in Infocus Visions Music & Arts Magazine said ",,,,she electrified the audience with her powerful but masterfully controlled voice and phraseology." in reference to Emilie Surtees' Musical Tribute Show to the Legendary Whitney Houston at Club Bonafide in New York City.

 

Flushing Town Hall said "Vocal Powerhouse Emilie Surtees Brings Soul, Passion, and Energy To Flushing Town Hall w/ her Rock & Roll Concert".

 

For Black History Month, Emilie Surtees performed her Musical Tribute to the Ladies of Jazz & Blues;  Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, & Etta James for The Black Women in Jazz Performance Series at The Elebash Recital Hall - An Institute for Research on The African Diaspora in The Americas & The Caribbean [IRADAC] in 2019.
